Adult Choir Members The adult choir of THZ needs new members. We would like this choir to have many voices to ring out in musical prayer. To join this enthusiastic group, you do not need to read Hebrew or read music. The requirements are only a good singing voice and enthusiasm and a commitment to be punctual and attend practices regularly. Practices are held each Wednesday evening from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The choir sings at services bi-monthly (approximately) and at High Holy Days services.E-blast Editor You would work with our office staff in editing our weekly informational e-blast. Time commitment would be approximately two hours per week. Event Photographers In order to add to the vitality of this Website and to the Temple bulletin, we need THZ member with digital cameras to photograph Temple events.

Morning Service Leaders Minyan leaders should be able to read Hebrew and English well. This very important responsibility may be done weekly, bi-weekly or even irregularly. You will be helping to lighten the schedule for the small group that currently lead services. The minyan service is about twenty minutes long and is held on weekdays at 7:15 a.m. and Sundays at 9:00 a.m. Training will be provided.

Morning Service Openers As an opener for the minyan you will help by unlocking the Temple’s door at approximately 6:45 a.m. and by starting the morning coffee. This is a very valuable service for the minyan leader and the participants. You do not even have to stay for the service.

Musicians Accomplished musicians are asked to volunteer to have their names added to a roster of THZ musicians. We would like to build a list of people who would enjoy performing at a Temple function as part of a band or as a solo performer. Helpers at Friday Shabbat Services at Baycrest Home For The Aged You would help by escorting participants from and to their rooms and assist them to participate in the service. If you are a fluent reader of Hebrew, you could also take a turn in leading the service. This commitment is from 6:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., once a month.

Office Personnel Helping with computer work, answering telephones and all types of administrative duties.

Out of the Cold With the help of a large group of tireless volunteers, The Out of the Cold Program feeds, shelters and provides clothing and toiletries to members of the community who are homeless or socially isolated. The program takes place at Temple Har Zion, and volunteers facilitate every aspect and detail from before our guests arrive on Wednesday afternoon to after they leave the following morning. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out a volunteer registration form.

Shiva Service Leaders Shiva service leaders must be able to read Hebrew and English well. You will occasionally be asked to lead a service at the home of a bereaved member of our congregation. This service will start at 8:00 p.m. and it will last for about twenty minutes. You will be helping to comfort the bereaved family and your time and effort will be very much appreciated. Training will be provided. Ushers Ushers play an important role at our services. We need people to volunteer to usher once per month on a Friday evening or a Saturday morning or for holiday services. You will be trained and your work will be appreciated.
